My Answers

1. Mission/Vision: A fun, accessible game available to kids everywhere that also teaches good eating habits without being didactic.

2. Promise/Tagline: Food. Fun. Facts. or Eating Right in the Face of Adversity.

3. To teach kids about diabetes in a way they will actually want to learn.

4. Teaches players about healthy eating habits/meal plannin, also a fun experience. For sponsors: possible source of income through extra purchasable items/levels/etc. Also, helps promote healthy message.

5. It looks and plays like a traditional platformner with the educational aspects integrated directly into the gameplay, so players don't have to feel like they're playing just another boring educational game.

here are the questions we have to answer, we are supposed to do these individually, but you can still post it on the blog

Here are the questions in case you guys didn't get them.

What is you mission/vision?

What is your promise/tagline?

What are you creating this game for?

What benefit does your game have to it's audience (users, sponsors).

How is your game different from other games developed within serious games?

Here are my answers for now.

What is my mission/vision?
To teach people healthy habits through fun and exciting gameplay and
lead a new generation of gamers into a healthy future.

What is my promise/tagline?
education so fun, you'll eat it right up!

What am I creating this game for?
to promote healthy eating habits and educate people about their diets.

What benefit does my game have for its audiences?
(hopefully) The playing audience can learn through gameplay, the value of the foods
they eat and make better decisions about their diet. Sponsoring parties can promote their healthy foods/plans/products in a platform that has a large audience and is easily accesible(apps)

how is it different?
it's fun! plays like a classic game, but teaches you food values without destroying gameplay, just like I know most of the hidden blocks in Mario, the players for this game know just the right combinations of food and exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle(in game) which will hopefully transfer to out of game.

plan update! 3/6/2011

Alright everyone, class on saturday has given us a new assignment and after speaking with a few team members from uci i have tasks!

1. we need art/sketches/paintings to be the background for a title and credits screen

2. we need art/sketches/paintings/thumbs for sales pitches, posters and or reverse concepting

3. we need proposals for profit plans i.e. expansions/texture packs/special item packs/pay to play/ whatever coolness you can think of. write these down in a word document well present them this coming Saturday.

Good luck everyone!

Suggestions from Stefano Gualeni

-Change colors in UI to reflect the hierarchy of importance of the different elements/be less arbitrary.

-Streamline UI; maybe get rid of water balls, and use the character's color to show that instead?

-Maybe don't use a boss for the end of the level, instead put greater emphasis on the food gathering, maybe completing a level is finishing a balanced meal (saves work on boss, and reinforces educational aspects).

Cotton Candy attack

am i spamming the blog?

Hello dearest superawesome team 2!

Erik and I would like to invite everyone to dinner tomorrow (sunday) night around 6 or 7 or whenever you guys are free.  We also want to treat Josh and Ian, and of course Anna is invited too :)

Please let me know when is the best time for you, and since Josh and I live close my brother Jon can take us two and Erik. And Anna, if you want to come up to Club laguna we can give you a ride too. If we're picking up Erik you can just go there if it's convenient. Just go on steam or something :)

So Josh and Ian said ok, so Anna let me know if you can come!

Thank you Josh and Ian for doing so much for our team!! Hopefully you guys can catch up on rest and homework!
